Varicose Vein

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that most commonly appear in the legs and feet due to weakened or damaged valves in the veins. This causes blood to pool and veins to swell, resulting in visible blue or purple veins on the skin’s surface. Symptoms may include aching pain, heaviness, swelling, itching, and cramping in the legs—especially after long periods of standing or sitting. Factors like age, genetics, pregnancy, obesity, and prolonged standing increase the risk.

Although varicose veins are often a cosmetic concern, they can sometimes lead to complications such as skin ulcers or blood clots. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes like exercise and compression stockings to minimally invasive procedures such as sclerotherapy, laser treatment, or endovenous ablation. These advanced techniques help close or remove the affected veins, improving both appearance and leg comfort effectively.
