Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is a condition characterized by the enlargement of breast tissue in males, commonly caused by a hormonal imbalance between estrogen and testosterone. It can affect one or both breasts, sometimes unevenly, and is often seen in newborns, adolescents during puberty, or older men. While it’s not usually a serious medical issue, gynecomastia can lead to emotional distress, self-consciousness, and social discomfort.

Treatment for gynecomastia depends on the underlying cause and severity. In many cases, the condition resolves on its own, especially in teenagers. However, if it persists or causes significant discomfort, options such as medication or gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction) can be considered. This surgical procedure removes excess glandular tissue and fat, resulting in a flatter, more masculine chest appearance and helping individuals regain their confidence.
